Construction site CCTV needs to account for a location that changes through the project. A camera covering a clear boundary in the first week may later be blocked by scaffolding, cabins or stored materials. Sentinel5 plans temporary and permanent coverage around the programme, available infrastructure and agreed security requirements.
Gates, plant and material storage
The initial survey identifies access points, delivery movements and the areas where plant or materials are stored. Cameras should provide useful views of those activities, with mounting positions that remain safe and accessible. A general site overview can complement closer entrance views but does not replace them.
Power before permanent services
Every proposed system needs a defined power arrangement. Tell us whether mains power is available, what happens outside working hours and which areas are due to move. Any temporary power provision, outage behaviour and maintenance responsibilities need agreement. We do not assume that all site CCTV can operate without services.
Mobile connectivity and local recording
Where fixed broadband is unavailable, mobile connectivity or a suitable wireless link may be an option. Signal strength and usable bandwidth need checking at the installation position. Data allowance and remote viewing habits also affect the arrangement. Local recording needs to be considered separately from whether someone can view the site remotely.
Revisit coverage as the site changes
Agree who will flag changes to the layout and how repositioning will be arranged. New structures, hoarding and delivery routes can affect both coverage and the physical route to equipment. A defined review point at a project stage is more useful than assuming the original layout will remain suitable until completion.
Alerts and response arrangements
Recording, automatic alerts, remote viewing and staffed monitoring are different requirements. Explain what you expect to happen when activity is detected so the scope can be agreed explicitly. A camera or mobile app alone does not provide a response service.
Hire, removal and handover
Our onsite CCTV hire service is quoted around equipment, installation, duration, connectivity and removal. Repositioning or extensions to hire should be discussed when the programme changes. If temporary equipment is to become permanent, we review the design and responsibilities before the transition.
