CCTV, PROPERLY CONSIDERED

Home CCTV Installation

Keep an eye on home. With a system that feels simple.

A good home CCTV system should be easy to live with. Sentinel5 installs cameras for front doors, driveways, side access, gardens and outbuildings, with neat cable routes, dependable recording and a clear explanation of how to use everything. We cover Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Greater London.

Driveways and front door cameras

The view that shows your whole driveway may not show a visitor clearly at the door. We plan those views separately, considering vehicle parking positions, porch roofs, the direction people approach and headlights at night. A door camera should be within reach for maintenance without being easy to knock out of position.

Rear garden coverage

Rear access, side gates and the route between the house and garden can be more useful to cover than every corner of an outdoor space. We agree the purpose of each camera and consider trees, outside lighting and seasonal growth. Camera placement and privacy masking help limit unwanted views beyond your property.

Garages and outbuildings

Detached garages and garden rooms need a realistic plan for power and data. A weak WiFi connection at the back of the garden can lead to unreliable access. Depending on distance and site conditions, we can discuss a wired route or a suitable network link. Cable protection, access for installation and future garden work all belong in the survey.

4K CCTV and night vision

4K can help retain detail in a well-planned view, but it cannot compensate for the wrong lens or an unhelpful angle. At night, infrared reflections from walls, nearby objects and dirty covers can spoil the image. Colour night vision depends on the camera and available or built-in lighting. We explain the likely night-time result before agreeing the equipment.

Remote viewing and local storage

With a compatible recorder and internet connection, authorised users can view cameras and search recordings through an app. Local recording can continue during a broadband outage if the cameras, network and recorder remain powered and connected. Remote viewing needs connectivity. We show you playback and exports, not just the live picture, and discuss who should have access.

Privacy masking and sensible camera positions

We plan views around your home and the areas you need to see. Privacy masking can block selected parts of an image where supported. Cameras that capture areas outside the property boundary need particular care. The government's domestic CCTV guidance explains the considerations for householders.

What happens during installation?

  • Survey: discuss your property, camera positions, recording needs and budget.
  • Written quote: agree the equipment, cable routes, access and work included.
  • Installation: fit and connect the cameras and recorder, then test the system.
  • Handover: practise live view, playback, exports and authorised remote access.
  • Support: discuss maintenance and who to contact if a view or recording changes.

Home CCTV pricing

Our home guide package starts from £495. A four-camera installation is quoted for its actual cable routes, access and equipment; it is not automatically the entry package price. See CCTV installation costs for the current packages and calculator. Your final written quote follows a survey.

Get More from the Cameras You Already Have

Lost app access or missing recordings may be repairable. Read our CCTV repair options before replacing a complete system. If you need better night pictures or an extra driveway view, we can plan a targeted upgrade and explain camera positioning.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Before your survey.

How much does CCTV installation cost?

Our current home package guide starts from £495. Camera quantity, access, cabling and storage affect the final price. A free survey lets us quote for your actual property.

Do you install both home and commercial CCTV?

Yes. We design systems for homes as well as shops, offices, warehouses, hospitality and construction sites across our four core service areas.

Can I view my cameras remotely?

Yes, where the equipment and connection support it. We configure authorised users and explain live view, playback and supported alerts at handover.

How long can footage be stored?

It depends on the camera count, bitrate, recording schedule and available storage. We size the recorder around an agreed retention target and check actual recording during commissioning.

Can you repair or take over an existing system?

We can inspect existing cameras, NVRs and DVRs, check recording and remote access, and advise on repair or maintenance. Support depends on equipment condition, compatibility and authorised access.

Do you provide temporary CCTV?

Yes. Onsite CCTV hire is available for construction projects, vacant premises and temporary risk areas. Power, connectivity, mounting and hire duration are agreed for the site.
