Sentinel5 designs and maintains CCTV for school entrances, boundaries and agreed shared areas. A school installation needs a clear purpose, an agreed view plan and coordination with the people responsible for premises, IT and data protection.
Define the purpose of each camera
Start with the locations and incidents the system is intended to help review. Entrances, car parks and perimeter approaches may need different camera views. Placement around children and staff needs particular care; surveillance should not expand simply because more cameras can be fitted. The school is responsible for its data protection decisions and policy.
Work with the existing network
We discuss cabling, PoE capacity, camera network separation and authorised management access with the IT team. Systems should be accessible to the people who need them without being broadly available on pupil or guest networks. Existing infrastructure can be assessed for reuse.
Recording and permissions
Named cameras, accurate time settings and a documented access process help authorised staff find and handle footage. We size storage against the school's agreed retention target and demonstrate playback and exports. See government CCTV guidance for organisations for operator responsibilities.
Installation and maintenance arrangements
We agree access, working hours and site procedures before work is scheduled. Existing system inspection can check recording, cameras and storage before a support scope is proposed. Contact Sentinel5 to discuss a new installation or maintenance.
